My beloved mother once told me about a young man who did not quite fit in and was never quite happy.

As the month of October is now gone, the Fort Lewis College campus looks back at Youth Justice Month, a month of social awareness and activism. This can be seen most amongst the FLC sociology department who helped various student-led events which were designed to draw attention to youth justice issues.

With advising season upon, many students will be speaking with professional advisors, or academic success coaches, to determine their future goals within their study. The Student Success Demonstration Project, as implemented across various departments by Fort Lewis College administrators, gives these departments assistance in advising, to remove the possible burden from faculty.

The Rocky Horror Show will be shown at the Henry Strater Theatre. The first performance will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29.

On Halloween in Durango, students and young adults attend an event that occurs on Main Street known as the Zombie March. Participants march and holler through the streets from midnight to about 2 a.m.

At Fort Lewis College, Student Union Productions brings entertainment to the campus and the student body.

Whether it is a meal in a pill, a feast in a stick of gum, a spontaneous assembly of atoms, a green wafer made of people or a re-hydrated pizza puck, science fiction and fantasy has amassed a widely speculative variety of future foods to fuel the people. What the food in “The Jetsons,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” “Soylent Green” and “Back to the Future” seems to revolve around is its convenience.

The Associated Students of Fort Lewis College are currently working on a new contract with the Durango Transit. The current contract allows students to ride the transit with their student pass, with funding coming from the ASFLC about to expire.

Fort Lewis College students and Sodexo executives were heard on Wednesday, Oct. 14, when Sodexo held its first all-inclusive focus group of the semester in the San Juan Dining Hall.

Halloween is a holiday with plenty of opportunity for fun programing, especially for college students. This year, the events affiliated with Fort Lewis College include a KDUR radio party, a Halloween-themed choir and band concert, and a haunted house.
