Contingent faculty, who are temporary or part time instructors, face many challenges at Fort Lewis College and other academic institutions, including low salaries, which has the potential to interfere with their ability to teach effectively. Across the nation, institutions are becoming more reliant on these part time and temporary faculty members as a source of less expensive and more flexible labor.

Softball Splits Weekend Series With Regis

FLC came into this weekend series against Regis University looking for their first in conference win of the season after a brutal stretch to start the campaign. The team accomplished this goal on Saturday and was able to split the four game weekend series with RU with another win on Sunday in the second game of the double header.

FLC Student Passes Away in Car Accident Over Weekend

Fort Lewis College student Allen Duke, 23, died from injuries sustained from being hit by an SUV while walking along Main Avenue on Saturday, Lt. Ray Shupe of the Durango Police Department said. Duke died at Mercy Regional Medical Center from severe injuries, Shupe said.

FLC Softball Splits First Double Header With Regis

Sat. March 18 the Fort Lewis College Softball team faced the Regis University Rangers in a double header in Aztec, NM. The field at FLC is under renovations therefore the team is playing in Aztec for this season. The first game was close, but ended in a loss for the Skyhawks with a final score of 1-2.  The second game FLC came back for revenge and won with a final score of 9-2.
