Victim Escaped Unharmed From Armed Carjacking at FLC

More details have been released about an armed carjacking begining on the Fort Lewis College campus Monday night.
A man, who is not a student, was waiting in his vehicle in the Jones Hall parking lot, according to a release sent to the student body by FLC public affairs officer Mitch Davis.
The suspect, a man who was described as being in his mid-thirties with tattoos, entered the victim's vehicle with a gun and told the victim to get in the passenger seat, according to the release. The suspect and the victim travelled off campus in the vehicle.
The suspect drove to Trimble crossing at U.S. Highway 550 and Trimble Lane, where the vehicle got stuck. The victim was able to escape and flag down a passing vehicle. The suspect fled and is still at large, the release said.
The FLC Police Department and Durango Police Department are both working on an investigation into the incident.
The La Plata County Sheriff's Office contacted the FLC Police Department about the incident at about 8 p.m. Monday night.

A man was taken at gunpoint at Fort Lewis College Monday night, according to a release sent to the student body by FLC Chief of Police Arnold Trujillo.
The man was waiting in his vehicle when he was taken off campus in his own vehicle by a man wielding a gun, according to the release.
The news release does not explicitly say if or how the victim was rescued.
The victim is not a FLC student, according to the release. The suspect’s identity is unknown.
The suspect, who is described as a male with tattoos, is still at large. The FLC Police Department received a report of the incident at about 8 p.m. on Monday, according to the release.
