ASFLC: Renewals, Approval, Travel Grant, Senator Appointments

The Associated Students of Fort Lewis College met Wednesday, Feb. 7th to discuss Registered Student Organizations’ renewals, an RSO approval, an RSO travel grant and senator appointments.

RSO  Renewals

The ASFLC voted unanimously to renew five RSOs including Feminist Voice, Master Plan/ Connect, Political Science Club, Rooted and the Student Athletic Trainers Association.

Through the Trees Approval

The RSO, Through the Trees, was approved by a unanimous vote.

The newly approved RSO plans to work with underprivileged children to immerse them in the outdoors, Cody Hansen, Through the Trees club president, said.

The club plans to create a healthy environment for kids to be mentored, he said.

The resolution approved the new RSO as a level one, vice president Ian Fullinwider said.

Geology Club Travel Grant

The Geology Club’s request for $876 to help fund the trip to Tucson, Arizona was passed unanimously.

Twenty students from the college are planning to from Feb. 9 to Feb. 10, to attend the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show, Sara Burch, club president, said.

Senator Appointments

Sen. Roy Adams and Sen. Becca Judy were unanimously voted on as Financial Allocation Board senators, except for two abstentions by the two senators being confirmed.

Both newly appointed senators sat on the Financial Allocation Board as students at large, Dustin Fink, ASFLC president, said.

ASFLC had to have a two-thirds majority vote for the appointments to be confirmed, he said. The appointment will run until the end of the academic year, Fullinwider said.
