The Fort Lewis College Campus Police released a crime log detailing incidents occurring from Dec. 7 to Jan. 14.

Friday, December 7 at 12:50 a.m.

The police responded to a call in the 1100 block of 8th Ave. and arrested an adult for a DUI involving alcohol.

Friday, December 7 at 11:13 p.m.

Police responded to a call in the 1000 block of Rim Dr. concerning lost property.

Friday, December 7 at 11:25 p.m.

Police responded to a call in the 900 block of Rim Dr. concerning lost property.

Friday, December 7 at 2:20 a.m.

Officers of the FLC Police Department assisted another agency in a call to the 200 block of W 8th Ave.

Monday, December 10 at 9:40 a.m. 

Police responded to a call in the 1400 block of E. 8th Ave. involving extortion (threatening to injure reputation).

Tuesday, December 11 at 5:28 p.m.

Police responded to a call at Reed Library concerning graffiti.

Tuesday, December 11 at 3:30 p.m.

Police responded to a hit and run involving vehicle damage in the Centennial parking lot.

Wednesday, December 12 at 8:40 a.m.

Police conducted a personal security/welfare check in the 900 block of Rim Dr.

Wednesday, December 12 at 9:10 p.m.

Police responded to a civil dispute in the 100 block of Talon Ln.

Thursday, December 13 at 1:40 p.m

Police responded to a call in the 300 block of Talon Ln. concerning assault through intimidation, including stalking. Police made an arrest.

Saturday, December 15 at 3:49 a.m.

Police responded to a call for an out-of-county warrant for a misdemeanor in the 1400 block of E. 8th Ave. Police made an arrest.

Saturday, December 15 at 10:49 a.m.

Police issued a summons to appear in court for a traffic accident including vehicle damage at the corner of E. Campus Ct. and E. 8th Ave.

Police responded to a call about found property in the 100 block of Skyhawk Ave.

Durango Bag-It Campaign to be voted on November 5

On Aug. 6, 2013 the City Council of Durango passed an ordinance by a 4-1 vote concerning reducing the use of paper and plastic bags in large grocery stores because of its harm to the environment.

This ordinance, started by Erich Bussian who passed away last month, implemented a small fee of 10 cents charged to each customer who used plastic or paper bags. This would’ve affected shoppers at stores such as City Market and Albertsons, but was recalled during the last election.

Record-setting September precipitation in La Plata County, including last Sunday’s 1.72 inch deluge, has damaged over a dozen local roads, destroyed crops, and damaged local homes.

 

It is either the wettest or second wettest September on record for the Durango area, depending on which data set is used, said Joe Ramey, meteorologist for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Grand Junction, in a phone interview.
