Many Durango residents walk down the sidewalk, head down buried in a phone, or looking straight ahead. The neighborhood art in Durango has just recently come to my attention. At the base of the trunk of many trees along 3rd street, there are what’s called fairy houses or fairy gardens.  Now that I know about these little fairy houses and other hidden pieces of eye candy, they seem to be never ending as I stroll down the sidewalk. Durango residents decorate their yards with everything from vintage bicycles to extravagant lawn chairs. There is a concentration of fairy houses on 3rd avenue, or should I say micro-communities that have by-passers taking an extra moment to admire the lives of these little figurines.
