The owners of Fired Up Artisan Pizza on Main Ave opened a new restaurant, Mountain Tacos and Tequila featuring tacos in the Fall of 2017.

The recently founded establishment is located at 741 Main Ave in Durango.

The restaurant's menu consists of soft shell tacos filled with different vegetables, meats, and sauces.

The first thing I noticed when I entered was the ambiance. This establishment has a modern feel to it with artwork and color choices to accentuate this feel. One wall is painted with bright colors that gives the restaurant a lively mood.

I walked in with an empty stomach and ordered two tacos and a Pabst Blue Ribbon beer.

One of the tacos was Korean BBQ Short Rib, which was overflowing with flavor.

It consisted of pineapple-pico de gallo, red wine vinegar slaw, sesame seeds, microgreens, sriracha, and of course warm BBQ Short Rib.

When biting into the taco the first part I noticed of the culinary creation was how much food it had in it. Eating this taco was messy, with overflowing juices from the ingredients. The mix of vegetables and sriracha created spice for the taco. After a couple of bites I started to taste how much of a kick this taco has.

This taco was $3.50.

I also ordered an Achiote Grilled Chicken taco, which was more dry compared to the BBQ Short Rib.

This taco consisted of less ingredients, but that did not diminish from the flavor it brings.

It comes with kale mix, pico de gallo, cotija, chipotle crema, and microgreens. Although this taco has multiple ingredients that could combat the dryness of the chicken, I found myself mostly tasting the chicken itself.

This taco was $3.00.

This new taco joint provides locals and even the budget-friendly college student with a healthy option for a night out with friends, a date, or even by yourself.
