The Associated Students of Fort Lewis College commenced its weekly meeting on Oct. 16 at 7:07, where Senator Childers moved to approve the Taekwando Club from an RSO Ⅰ to an RSO Ⅱ for the club to receive a budget and fundraising abilities.

ASFLC also moved to approve the Bee Club to receive support from the Financial Allocation Board. Bee club aims to get hands-on research for students, within the science field, said Senator Robin Bolduc.

Bee Club also hopes to get students connected with graduate programs, said Bolduc.

Additionally, ASFLC approved two new chairs to join the table, Associate Justice Dominick Damper and First-year Ambassador Teresa Antinora.

“I was inspired by her, by her enthusiasm, and I think that she's definitely a high achiever, as well as a great contribution to our table,” Carmen Hall, vice president of ASFLC, said about Antinora joining ASFLC.

Hall also said she is excited to have Damper sit on student court.

Atticus Cobb, a student at the fort, spoke to ASFLC to assist in spreading awareness to add LGBTQ+ marriage rights to the Colorado constitution.

According to the ASFLC meeting minutes, Cobb is working with the Freedom to Marry Colorado Campaign to spread awareness.

Hall shared that Cobb will be back for next week's meeting to discuss more in the ASFLC planning session about their organization.

Hall and Senator Ian Groom collaborated to run the legislative affairs committee.

One committee project is to create a mail chain, that will send information out to students, of all legislation applicable to higher education, affordable housing, and everything else in Colorado.

Hall said they hope to be getting the mail chain out bi-weekly, when that will begin has not been stated yet.

ASFLC is the student government at Fort Lewis College, and represents student interests at every level of the college. These include meetings for the board of trustees, the president’s cabinet, the budget advisory committee, and more. ASFLC holds meetings at 7 pm every wednesday in the senate chambers, and are open to student comments, suggestions, and participation.
