ASFLC Approves New RSO

Mandy Lorenson

Associated Students of Fort Lewis College met Oct. 10 to approve the newest RSO on campus, Keeping Women Wild.

“We want to empower women in the outdoors,” Sara Moore, founder of Keeping Women Wild and senior at FLC, said.

This has been something that they have wanted to create for a while but haven’t been able to find a solid group of women, Moore said.

Keeping Women Wild has been working with getting a partnership with Backcountry Experience, Moore said.

They hope to be able to support Backcountry Experience while also having Backcountry Experience support them, Moore said.

Chick with Picks inspired Moore to start this RSO. Chicks with Picks is another organization off campus whose goal is to make women feel empowered as they are climbing.

Keeping Women Wild was unanimously approved to be an RSO on campus.

ASFLC also planned to vote on approve Women’s Rope Sports as an RSO, but the group did not show up for its presentation.

ASFLC postponed voting on this until next week's meeting that will be held on Wednesday.
