Dearest readers and followers,
I am excited to be the new Online/Social Media Editor for The Independent. This is my fourth
semester with The Independent, though
my second semester as an editor. I look forward to providing overlapping
coverage between our online page and our social media outlets to get
information out about both campus and community news. The beauty of working
with our online content is that our readers and followers can voice their
concerns and opinions, promoting a more interactive experience between the news
producers (us) and the news consumers (you). Post a comment on our Facebook
page, follow up on an article via our Twitter page, maybe even submit a photo
to our Instagram or Pinterest pages; at The
Independent, you have options to get involved.
The bar has been set high for me. But a few semesters ago,
our Editor in Chief Ayla Quinn had brought our online page to a new height when
she was the Online Editor. Associate Editor in Chief Trevor Ogborn maintained
that standard while he held the position. Now it’s my turn.
I hope to provide up-to-date coverage on events and topics
that you, the reader, care about.
questions, concerns, or ideas about our online content arise, please contact
me. And make sure to check the yellow boxes around campus for our news
